Steven awarded 2024 Cirdan Sail Trainee of the Year

We are pleased to announce that Steven has been recognised as the 2024 Cirdan Sail Trainee of the Year! This is awarded by Cirdan to an individual that has gone above and beyond on a sailing voyage, demonstrated a keen willingness to learn and understanding of how our boats work as well as helping others.

As a charity, we take hundreds of young people sailing each year and so even reaching the short list is a huge achievement.

Our professional crew onboard both Queen Galadriel and Faramir were particularly impressed with how quickly Steven picked up tasks, as well as his eagerness to learn about the mechanical side and duties including the daily checks.

Steven also joined the Cirdan Youth View forum this year, and his input has already helped us to implement changes to help shape the future of Cirdan and further enrich future participants on our voyages.

For the last two years, Aurora Sea School located in Burnham on Crouch have sponsored the Sail Trainee of the Year award and have kindly provided a £50 voucher for their sea school for Steven to use.
