A residential sailing voyage with The Cirdan Sailing Trust provides those less fortunate with the opportunity to discover their capabilities and encourage them to achieve more than they ever thought possible.

The once-in-a-lifetime experience allows young people to develop life skills, increase self-confidence and self-esteem, build resilience, improve communication and teamwork skills. Our voyages also help improve the mental health and wellbeing of those onboard.

A sailing voyage takes people away from their usual surroundings where they may be subject to negative influences and puts them into an alien environment where they must understand and accept authority, live and work as a team and be resilient.

As the voyage progresses, they learn to accept the disciplines and constraints of life on board and alongside their peers and fellow crew members face up to the challenges that produce the positive outcomes. The experience helps give them the tools to progress and succeed in the future.
