What a star – Faramir’s Skipper, Ed completed all 75 miles of the Saltmarsh Challenge with a total time of 16 hours 04 minutes 48seconds, placing him about halfway through the field of individual runners. Unfortunately, Ed did suffer a knee injury during day one which slowed him down but he battled on through torrential rain to finish the first 38 miles. With aching legs and still feeling tired, Ed got himself to the start line for day two and set off again to complete the challenge – another 37 miles but at least the sun shone. His knee did cause a few problems during the day and he struggled on slowing his run down to a power walk at times but, being the determined character he is, Ed made it to the end having run nearly three marathons over two consecutive days.
Apart from completing a personal challenge, Ed’s efforts raised over £700 for Cirdan to help young people benefit from the personal developments made through the different challenge of life at sea aboard a large sailing vessel. Well done Ed, your efforts are much appreciated. You can still support Ed by making a donation at https://www.justgiving.com/campaigns/charity/cirdansailing/saltmarsh75
