Fashion show raises funds for Cirdan Sailing Trust

The Fashion Show – Monday 9 June 2014

Cirdan supporters Sally and Rupert Faure-Walker boosted the Trust’s funds by over £4,000 by hosting a fashion show at their home making use of a marquee erected for their daughter’s wedding. Guests were invited to enjoy the sunshine, strolling in the well-kept gardens before being served a splendid lunch prepared by a small committee of supporters who worked tirelessly to ensure the guests were well looked after.

Clyde Small Ships’ Race

In June, Faramir made her way to Glasgow to participate in the Clyde Small Ships’ Race. Three separate youth organisations sailed the passages from Hartlepool to Oban via the Caledonian canal and another three groups sailed back with a seventh, Mathew Moss School participating in event itself.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of our long standing and dedicated trustee Christopher Courtauld who died on 11 January after a short illness. As one of the industries founders with his yacht Duet back in the 60s, Christopher was held in great regard by sail training.

Nick Back receives MBE from Prince William

MBE for Cirdan’s retired Chief Executive

Whilst Nick Back, Cirdan’s Chief Executive of 20 years retired in 2011 his dedication to sail training for young people remains not only through offering his services to the Trust on a regular basis but also as a Trustee for ASTO, UK sail training’s umbrella body. In recognition of his services to young people through the industry, Nick was presented with an MBE by HRH Prince William in March.
