The Summer Breeze Sportive and Charity Bike Ride took place on Sunday 19th July 2015.
We managed to avoid the rain which came through before the start of the 88 mile Sportive but there was nothing we could do about the head wind that riders had to battle for the first 60 miles. They were not deterred however and after some welcome refreshment they set off again keen to complete the last leg and ready for the challenge of North Hill before heading home to Maldon.
The wind made it a slow event even for the fastest riders and first riders home were Tony Collins and Andrew Sutton with a time of 4 hours 32 min.
The shorter 25 mile ride was enjoyed by all with some looking for a best time and other making use of the Tip Tree tea rooms for refreshments.
We would like to thank all the riders who by taking part helped us to raise funds for our work with disadvantaged young people – we hope to welcome you back again next year along with your friends.
Our thanks also goes to all the volunteers who helped to organise and run the event, Plantation Hall for providing some great base facilities and most of all to The Bull at Blackmore End and The Chequers at Felsted for accommodating our refreshment points.
