The annual Round The Island Race is a one day yacht race around the Isle of Wight. Over 16,000 sailors on 1,700 boats of all shapes and sizes take part in the 50 nautical mile course which makes it one of the largest yacht races in the world and the fourth largest participation sporting event in the UK (after the London Marathon and the Great North and South Runs).
Duet, our 1912 classic yawl will be taking part in 2016 and you can join us and take a full active part in the team effort it takes to sail her. No experience is necessary as full training and instruction will be given the day before the race.
Friday 1st July 2016 to Sunday 3rd July 2016
Friday – Join the boat 9am and spend the day on the Solent waters training for the race under the guidance of our professional skipper and mate.
Saturday – Race day – time to put into practice everything learnt on Friday! Evening ashore in Cowes after the race to join in the race festivities.
Sunday – Leisurely sail back from Cowes to finish by 4pm.
We are looking to fill the 6 berths available as an adult group so this is a great opportunity for team building. If you are an individual please still get in contact with us as berths may become available. No experience is necessary.
Proceeds from the vessel charter will be used to support our work with disadvantaged young people across our fleet so not only do you and / or your company get a fantastic weekend sailing on board a classic yacht, you will be helping young people that wouldn’t otherwise get the opportunity to get out on the water as well.
