Both Queen Galadriel and Duet participated in the Sail Training International Falmouth to Greenwich Tall Ships’ Regatta. The initial challenge was getting to Falmouth which involved both vessels in battling heavy sea and adverse wind conditions but the young people on board overcame adversity and arrived in Falmouth in time to enjoy the festivities in port.
The East Coast Piers Race is a major fund raising event organised by the Marconi Sailing Club. The race is based on the River Blackwater in Essex and goes all the way up the East Coast to Walton. The two course event, open to catamarans and fast dinghies, consists of a 29 mile round trip to Colne Point and back and then the full ECPR which is 50 miles to Walton Pier and back.
Cirdan supporters Sally and Rupert Faure-Walker boosted the Trust’s funds by over £4,000 by hosting a fashion show at their home making use of a marquee erected for their daughter’s wedding. Guests were invited to enjoy the sunshine, strolling in the well-kept gardens before being served a splendid lunch prepared by a small committee of supporters who worked tirelessly to ensure the guests were well looked after.
