Last season our DofE Gold residential voyages were oversubscribed so we are advertising the 2018 dates early to ensure anyone who is interested can get themselves booked on board.
This off-shore sailing experience is aboard Duet, an Edwardian gaff yawl, where everyone becomes a member of the crew for the week. With a small group of up to 7 trainees plus 2 professional crew, all living and working in the confines of a sailing vessel, friendships are formed, teamwork develops, skills are learned and lots of fun is had.
The cost, which includes on-board food, use of waterproofs and safety equipment is being kept low at just £480 for 6 days (funding may be available for anyone experiencing particular financial hardship).
The remaining dates for 2018 are:
Monday 22 to Saturday 27 October 2018 – East Coast
Saturday 20 to Thursday 25 October 2018 – East Coast
Experience required: None – participants will have varying degrees of experience from nothing to keen sailors.
Equipment required: Sleeping bag/pillow, warm clothes and stout shoes/boots.
Equipment supplied: Use of waterproofs, safety equipment and everything necessary for a residential afloat.
.Additional Accreditation Available: Royal Yachting Association, Competent Crew Certificate at an additional cost of £8 per person (£16 if RYA log book required).
Whilst these voyages are aimed at DofE students, they are open to any like-minded young person aged 16 to 25 who are looking for fun and adventure.
The Cirdan Sailing Trust is a DofE Approved Activity Provider.
