As a Duke of Edinburgh Approved Activity Provider, we run off-shore sailing voyages for students looking for fun and adventure to complete the Residential section of their Gold Award.DofE1 bowsprit rest crop

Dates available:

  • Saturday 22nd July to Thursday 27th July 2017
  • Saturday 29th July to Thursday 3rd August 2017
  • Saturday 5th August to Thursday 10th August 2017

All voyages will be sailing from and returning to the South or East Coast

Experience required: None – participants will have varying degrees of experience from nothing to keen sailors.

Equipment required: Sleeping bag/pillow, warm clothes and stout shoes/boots.

Equipment supplied: Use of waterproofs, safety equipment and everything necessary for a residential afloat.

Cost:   £450 per personDofE lunch for a six day voyage.

This cost includes on board food but participants (as a group and with guidance of the crew) plan their menus, provision the vessel within a budget and prepare meals. They also take a full and active part in all on board activities including deck work, navigating, and sailing. The purpose of the voyage is to give all participants a fully inclusive, on board experience as part of the Duet crew whilst having fun, making friends and learning new skills.

Please note: to ensure this experience is widely accessible, the cost has been kept low through the application of an optional grant from our Voyage of Discovery Fund. A condition of this grant is that the participant submits a thank you letter/short report to us after their voyage (to be forwarded to the supporters of our Fund). 

Participant Places: 7 (plus 2 professional crew).

Additional Accreditation Available: Royal Yachting Association, Competent Crew Certificate at an additional cost of £8 per person (£16 if RYA log book required).
