Cirdan’s Patron Lord Petre retires as Lord Lieutenant of Essex

Lord Petre, a long standing Cirdan Patron retired recently from his post of Lord Lieutenant of Essex.  His retirement, which came with his 75th birthday, was marked by a reception at Chelmsford Cathedral where he welcomed the new Lord Lieutenant of Essex, Jenny Tolhurst.  Lord Petre has been a very popular public figure with his easy manner and great sense of humour and in appreciation of the tremendous support he has given to the voluntary sector, the Vice Lord Lieutenant Jonathan Douglas-Hughes presented him with a portrait to hang amongst those of his ancestors at Ingastone Hall.

Lord Petre who has taken a great interest in Cirdan’s work will remain as Patron of the Trust.
